Automated Calls Find Lost Boy

We are very proud of the great lengths that the Lewiston Police Department has gone to help our community. Recently, the police department implemented a new phone messaging system that calls all neighbors in an area to notify them when a child goes missing. The system was used for the first time last weekend.

The Lewiston Police Department was alerted to a missing four year old boy in the Orchards. Instantly, numerous automated calls were made to the surrounding area to let people know how they can help. Thankfully, the boy was quickly found.

According to the Lewiston Tribune:

The [free] service is provided by a nonprofit group based in Florida called A Child is Missing.

The group is funded with grants and donations and assists law enforcement when children, elderly people, disabled people and even college students are reported missing.

Apparently, the Lewiston Police Department received a number of helpful phone calls... even after the child was found. They will be determining how to update citizens when a person is found.
